How we verify providers

Our whole reason to exist is trust. So we're specific about what we check, and just as honest about what a badge does and doesn't mean.

The two badges

Documents checked

This provider passed our document checks at the time of listing. We re-verify periodically and show a "last verified" date.

Listed

Real, but not yet checked

A real provider we've listed from public information who hasn't completed verification yet. We never hide this — it's labelled on every listing.

What we check before a Verified badge

Police / Vulnerable Sector Check A current police record check for working with vulnerable people, dated within the last 12 months.

Proof of insurance Current liability coverage on file, so families are not exposed if something goes wrong.

PSW registration (where applicable) Verified against Ontario's public HSCPOA register for Personal Support Workers.

Real references checked We call past clients — not just collect a name on a form.

Business basics For agencies, we confirm they are a real, operating business with the services they claim.

What verification is — and isn't. Verification is a documentation check at the time we list a provider. It is not a guarantee of safety, quality, or fitness, and we don't employ, supervise, or endorse anyone. Documents can be out of date, and good paperwork doesn't guarantee a good fit. Why we don't take placement fees

Most senior-care directories are paid by the providers they list, which means the "best match" is often just the highest bidder. We don't do that. Providers can't pay to rank higher or to earn a Verified badge. The badge is earned by passing the checks, full stop. That's the only way a trust directory is actually worth trusting.
